The company’s new wine cellar was completed in 2003, it’s located 100 m from the main villa, and has the most modern and advanced technologies, as well as a valuable French oak barrique (Allier, Tronçais, Nievre) built using the experience of famous master coopers (Tarausaud, Demptos, Berthomieux).
Its capacity can reach 1500 hectoliters of wine; in it are vinified only grapes grown in vineyards planted mostly with the Sagrantino varieties, occupying more than half of the estate’s vineyard terrain, followed by Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, Sirah and Merlot, Petit Verdot , Gamay and two hectares of Trebbiano Spoletino
In addition to the production area, the winery has a large area with a large panoramic terrace that overlooks the vineyards, where one may taste our wines, also accompanied by tastings of typical local products, combinations that enhance to a maximum the characteristics of our wines.

The birth of the Villa Mongalli Winery and the most important phases.

Purchase of the estate and Villa Mongalli

Villa Mongalli together with the surrounding estate are purchased by the Menghini family.

2001
Year of planting of the first vineyards


First the Sagrantino was planted, followed by Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, Petit Verdot, Sangiovese and in 2009 Trebbiano Spoletino.

 

2003
Cellar building

Started in 2003, the modern production cellar was finished in 2005.

First harvest


A beautiful harvest, the first, which is not forgotten.

Collaboration with the oenologist Emiliano Falsini

First bottles on the market

Finally, after five years from the first vineyards, our wines come onto the market.

The Italian Gambero Rosso guide crowns Sagrantino di Montefalco Della Cima with the Tre Bicchieri award.
